In early 2016, when our founder, Claudia, traveled to Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, shortly after the country emerged from a devastating civil war. The conflict, which spanned from 2012 to 2015, displaced over a million people and left the nation grappling with hunger, health crises, and broken infrastructure; her trip was business-driven, intended to explore opportunities in a region undergoing recovery and rebuilding. However, what she encountered in Bangui profoundly changed her perspective.

She saw children suffering from severe malnutrition, families without access to basic healthcare, and entire communities struggling to rebuild their lives, not just as images connected to a story but up close, rough, and unobstructed. But next to pain and suffering, she also saw the people's resilience amidst these challenges. Being confronted with all that every day for months left a lasting impact on her.

What began as a business initiative evolved in just over half a year into a personal sustainable solution for the issues she witnessed firsthand. Claudia founded impactful strategies for the project to create Echra to develop addressing malnutrition, improving education, and empowering communities to rise above systemic challenges.
